Puerto Libertad is a quiet, simple town.  Although the townspeople are simple, they take pride in their town.  It is one of the cleanest towns in Mexico that I have ever seen. The people are friendly and enjoy learning more about the American people that come to visit.

What started as a small fishing village many years ago has expanded to a population of over 3,000.  The CFE Power plant is a source of jobs for many that live in Puerto Libertad.  This power plant supplies 40% of Sonora's power.

Allow yourself to view this undeveloped property with the same eyes of our American forefathers, as they viewed the greatest potential on Earth. Perhaps you will see  the potential of the  greatest community project on the North American continent.

Text Box: The road to Puerto Libertad is a scenic 60 mile dirt road. The highway is not yet developed and this is the very purpose of buying property now. Once the coast highway is completed, property values will rise drastically, making this the perfect time to invest.

I urge you to remember that real bargains are borne of "what if" and not of "what is." Puerto Libertad is a desert, with  gentle slopes and bluffs that afford terrific views of the breathtaking sea. Mountains surround the property and the views are breathtaking. It is a place that will greet each morning with a sense of satisfaction.

In a few months this community will soon transform the "what if" to "what is" and at that time, only the visionaries, the pioneers, will have the good fortune to enjoy the benefits of sky-rocketing real estate

values. A lot of people may look at this as a dream, but this is all

very much reality. The people who get involved in this now are

going to do very well.

This land is home to numerous stories and legends about the many people who graced this land before us.  The story of Lola Casanova is part of Liberty Cove's history.  Being a very beautiful woman, Lola Casanova was captured by the Sen Indian chief Coyote-Iguana while passing up the coastline from Guaymas. This particular chief was not of Sen heritage, but had become a chief through hardship, courage and skill.  He vowed to care for her and make her the queen of the tribe.  Though Lola was essentially a prisoner of the tribe, Coyote-Iguana had fallen in love with her and built her a home.  Soon, Lola learned the traditions and the Sen dialect and became part of the tribe.

Finally, in desperation, Coyote-Iguana lost all hope of winning over the heart of Lola and agreed to have Lola escorted back to her people, at which point, Lola finally realized that she loved him and refused to go.  Romantic stories like these are part of the history of Puerto Libertad.

A Houston based company, DKRW, is developing a $100 million natural gas facility which is now under construction.  Pipelines from the terminal would serve Sonora and later expand into Arizona.  This facility is near the town of Puerto Libertad and is directly benefiting the town. The power plant will change from the US border to this city of Puerto Libertad. This new coastal highway will link San Luis on the Sonoran border with over 500 miles of coastline, and will reach Puerto Libertad in 2007, making the trip from the border to Puerto Libertad about 3 hours.

Helping the Community

During Christmas of 2006, Dan Merrell and Christopher Cole gathered the town's children together for a Christmas Fiesta.  There were so many children.  The fiesta began with a piñata. After that, the children took turns sitting on Santa's (Dan Merrell's) lap.  This is certainly the first of many Christmas fiestas that we will be undertaking.  We found that there are over 1,000 children in this small town.  There is a school in the city, but most of the families do not have the means for extras.  We would enjoy seeing these children blessed with a little Christmas spirit each year.
